Major Management Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. (“MMC”), registration number 3147/97, is a Zimbabwe based business training, consultancy and advisory firm that commenced its operations in 2002. It is extensively involved in leadership development, financial, economics and business advisory services, international and local capital raising, private equity, performance management and seconding international experts to entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe and sub-Saharan Africa. MMC is 100% owned by Legin Trust, a family trust set up by Mr. Nigel Muranganwa Kudzayi Chanakira (Zimbabwe ID 63-630681H25), whose beneficiaries are his wife Caroline Chanakira (Zimbabwe ID 63-684698X) and their four direct descendants.

Nigel MK Chanakira – Executive chairman & team leader
Nigel has had a distinguished career as an economist, businessman and success facilitator in Southern Africa. Nigel holds a BSc (Hons) Economics and MSc (Hons) Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. He also holds a Diploma in Banking (an IOBZ prize student) and another one in Bible Studies from Celebration College. He has attended numerous Zimbabwean and international banking, business, management and leadership development courses with institutions that include Oxford and Harvard Universities, the Pacific and Haggai Institutes and, the World Economic Forum.
Nigel alongside his business partners founded Kingdom Securities in 1994, which rose to prominence in Zimbabwean financial circles cumulating in a reverse-takeover of The Discount Company of Zimbabwe, which was listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange in 1999. He subsequently led his team to start, acquire and merge stakes in various banks, financial services businesses and companies in Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Mauritius and the United Kingdom. Through the Kingdom group, Nigel won more than 20 local and international business awards which include him twice winning the Top Company on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) (in 2001 and 2007), Best Turnaround ZSE Company (in 2006) and being voted Director of the Year in 2007. Nigel left the corporate world in 2013 to focus on leadership development, economic research, business consultancy and private equity. Nigel was invited to join the World Council of Success Motivation International, Inc. (Waco, Texas, USA) in 2013 and continues to serve in that capacity. He has consulted for Government of Zimbabwe in their Ease of Doing Business project, has consulted for FAO at SADC, chaired UNIDO’s pharmaceutical sector rehabilitation project in Zimbabwe, and he was a resident representative for the Dutch organization PUM that matches local entrepreneurs with international experts. Nigel is the immediate past non-executive chairman of the Zimbabwe Investment Authority that worked closely with the government of Zimbabwe and embassies in the arena of investment promotion and reforms. Nigel lends leadership and corporate finance experience to the team having raised millions of dollars for listed and private businesses, banks and clients within sub-Saharan Africa.
Nigel was the inaugural chairman of Solidarity Trust of Zimbabwe in 2020 that saw the rehabilitation of St Anne’s Hospital as the first private hospital to be COVID-19 ready as certified by both WHO and the Government of Zimbabwe health departments. Nigel is currently president of the Zimbabwe Economics Society.
Mrs. Caroline Chanakira (Managing principal) Caroline holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Honors) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and three diplomas in business from the Harare Polytechnic. She was a certified Sales Tax Examiner rising to become a supervisor in the Department of Taxes of the Government of Zimbabwe (now Zimbabwe Revenue Authority) where she served for ten years. She resigned from the Tax Department to pursue graduate studies at the University of Zimbabwe, and thereafter preceded to South Africa to look after her children, study further and became a director in family owned enterprises in South Africa. She returned to Zimbabwe in 2009 to set up ‘The House of Beracah’, a bed, breakfast and conferencing facility in Harare. She has initiated several family property investment projects in South Africa and Zimbabwe. She is the chairman of various family investment companies and a past non-executive director of Alpha Zimbabwe, an evangelical Christian non-governmental organization.
Edgar Nyamupingidza (Corporate Finance Consultant) Edgar is a seasoned and accomplished business leader with over 25 years extensive experience in the ICT and financial services industries. He has a solid education base with degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Finance, strong hands on technical background accompanied by international experience in financial services and leadership experience at executive and board level. His experience spans corporate finance, risk management, project management, systems analysis, product development, portfolio and asset management. He is a director in several mining and agricultural businesses and is a past chairman of FDH Bank in Malawi.
David Dhliwayo (Financial Consultant) David is a qualified Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in external auditing, financial management, financial risk management, financial reporting and maintaining good stakeholder relations. He has worked for KPMG (in Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe), Kingdom Bank Africa Limited and currently DEHD (Private) Limited. He has exposure to financial services, retail, not-for profit, real estate and construction and the public sector.
He is a disciplined organizer with ability to manage multiple assignments to meet tight deadlines. David works well with colleagues and is able to convey financial information in easily understood formats. David has good working experience of Temenos T24, Pastel Partner/Sage, as well as advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
